Phone tree proposed by Malinda Cannon - May start with "lead nurses" - A way for important/emergency information to be distributed in a timely manner
Lions club information presented by Colleen Crone who reported most clinics this year were NOT full - she also reported that some nurses may not be checking their students for muscle balance issues, she reminded us that the screen team DOES NOT check muscle balance for our students in kindergarten or preK and that it must be done by the nurse - Colleen reviewed us on the procedure to refer students for Lions Club: The student MAY be on free & reduced lunch HOWEVER just being on that will NOT serve as proof of income. The parent will have to provide a check stub, letter from employer, etc for proof of income to be eligible, and students need to have had a secondary check done by the nurse before referring as there were students who were referred this year who did not have a vision problem - also, undocumented students can be seen through the Lions Club clinic but NOT with VSP
--Approved funds for Dr. Moody's luncheon - to be setup by Colleen Crone

ASNA Meeting Minutes
February 8, 2011
President Jade McMillen called the meeting to order at 4:15pm.
Jade presented another example of a logo for the association to see and asked for input. Suggestions were made regarding ideas for the logo and a printer to use. It is hoped that this can be taken to vote at the next meeting.
Malinda Cannon reported that there are 2 nominess for the 2011 Great 100 Nurses – Robin McDaniel and Cheryl Staats.
More communication about the ASNA website is needed. Suzi Michell has the home e-mail addresses for everyone and will be available for sending out information. It was decided that this website should also be a way to communicate any “sunshine” news that should be shared.
Texas Health Resources will present a 1 hour CEU (“Delegation”) at the May 3rd meeting.
It was decided that the association should be preparing for the possibility of nurse reductions. Everyone was encouraged to give any input regarding the value of RNs in the schools to Jade for her to compile. The consensus was that we should not bring the situation into the spotlight as this time; but be prepared, with our research, for future actions that might occur.
Leslee Erickson was not in attendance to present an insurance report; however, Jade reported that the district will be reducing it’s coverage by $25 each month to professionals.
The next Lion’s Club Eye Clinic will be Monday, February 14th.
Cheryl Staats reported that each high school had received their scholarship applications before the Christmas holidays. The application is also available on the AISD website. Cheryl does not expect to receive any filled applications before the due date deadline of March 11th. Elaine Phillips and Joanna Mays will be on the scholarship committee with Cheryl.
In other business, Cherilyn Powell received the ASNA scrapbook from Jade and will work on it.
President McMillen adjourned the meeting at 5:30 pm.

ASNA Meeting Minutes
October 5, 2010
President Jade McMillen called the meeting to order at 4:15 pm.
Discussion began regarding ways to notify everyone about meetings. After a motion from Joyce Garcia, and a 2nd by Malinda Cannon, Article 7 of the ASNA constitution was amended as follows:
Meetings
This organization shall meet 3 times a year at 4:15 pm.
President McMillen thanked those attending, and introductions were made. Those attending were: Jade McMillen, Joyce Garcia, Anne Ingle, Malinda Cannon, Cherilyn Powell, Becky Acetta, Cheryl Staats, Sheila Kornegay, Lisa Stewart, and Cheryl Obegolu.
President McMillen brought up that our current website, http://asna.WebStarts.com, does not have capacity for expansion. She would like to include pictures of member nurses and periodic feature stories as part of the website. She encouraged everyone to send in information to be included. President McMillen is willing to continue with the website upkeep. It was decided that we should pay for a website that will allow space for the information we want on the site. Cherilyn Powell will pursue links with sponsorships as a source of income for the association.
Treasurer Anne Ingle presented the Treasurer’s Report. The current balance is $783 dollars, with 43 members. The budget was approved after removing the removing the proposed $50 donation to the AISD Education Foundation and adding it to the $50 allotment toward website maintenance, for a total of $100 to the website maintenance.
Those attending voted for the circular logo drawing (attached) as the logo to proceed with for the association. Cheryl Obegolu’s son is preparing this for use. It was decided that we would like for it to have a contemporary look, possibly adding a bandaid to the apple.
The scrapbook has not been received from previous historian, Lucy Harris. Joyce Garcia will pursue getting this returned.
Malinda Cannon will lead the Great 100 Nurses process. She would like the process to be anonymous, and the association agreed. Malinda will inform us of the required deadlines.
Cheryl Staats reported that scholarship applications will be at the high schools before the Christmas holidays. The deadline for returning the applications will be the Friday before Spring Break.
The Lion’s Club vision clinic still needs volunteers.
Cherilyn Powell and Becky Acetta will be chairpersons for a membership drive as well as the historians for this year.
The next meetings for the year will be Tuesday, February 1 and Tuesday, May 3 at 4:15 pm.
President McMillen adjourned the meeting at 5:20 pm.
